Holiday Gift Guide: Pregnancy Must-Haves

Looking for a gift for your pregnant wife/friend/coworker? I’ve gathered the top “pregnancy must haves” that I’ve truly appreciated this pregnancy that would make the perfect gift for the soon-to-be-mama (and NOT for the baby!) If anyone deserves to be spoiled rotten, it’s a pregnant woman. Nourishing new life is a round-the-clock job that takes a physical and mental toll. This gift guide contains something for everyone, from the newly expectant mom to the one who’s ready to pop!

Custom Sonogram Painting: This is a beautiful, sentimental gift that I received from my dad after we did our 12-week scan. Sonograms are the first tangible memory you have of your baby, but typical prints will eventually fade and deteriorate over time. This custom sonogram painting is hand-painted in watercolour to any colour of your choosing– a perfect, one-of-a-kind gift!

3D/4D Ultrasound: Depending on the stage she’s at in pregnancy, I would highly recommend gifting a 3D/4D ultrasound. It’s an amazing experience to be able to bond with your baby and get a glimpse into what they look like before they are born! If you’re in the GTA, I would highly recommend Tiny Hearts 3D in Oakville– that’s our little cutie in the photo above!

U-Shaped Pregnancy Pillow: Pregnancy is a beautiful thing, but it can be an uncomfortable journey! If there’s ONE thing every pregnant woman must have, it’s a pregnancy body pillow! I got this U-Shaped pillow in the second trimester and it was a GAME CHANGER for me. As someone who typically loves to sleep on my stomach, this pillow really helped me adjust to sleeping on my side and provide maximum support to my hips, back, neck, and belly. At this point, I want to sleep with it forever… even postpartum (sorry, husband!)

Exercise Stability Ball: I spend a lot of time working in my home office and I’ve found that my pelvic region starts really hurting when I sit on a chair for too long. Since I’ve replaced my chair with this exercise ball (this particular one comes with a base, for extra stability!) it has made the biggest difference in my comfort-level and productivity! I hear the exercise ball comes in handy when it comes to labour too… but I’ll have to report on that one later!

Smash & Tess Sunday Romper: I’ve had this romper since pre-pregnancy and at 34 weeks pregnant, it still remains one of my go-to items in my closet! This romper is SO soft and stretchy and will grow with your bump!

Cozy Slippers (like the UGG Scuffettes!): Sore feet and swelling are one of the most common complaints during pregnancy, so give her something to help relieve some of the pressure underfoot. I’ve had my pair of UGG Scuffettes for two years now and they’re still holding up! Super soft, cozy, and a huge added benefit while pregnant: gripped bottoms to prevent slips and falls.

Barefoot Dreams Cozychic Robe: All I’ve wanted to do this pregnancy is sleep or lounge around while being cozy! I am obsessed with all-things Barefoot Dreams because of how ridiculously soft the material is. This robe is like walking around with a plush throw blanket wrapped around you and a big bear hug all in one!

Lululemon Align Leggings: I’ve tried to purchase as few “maternity” clothing items as possible and have instead tried to find regular clothing that could stretch & fit through pregnancy and beyond. These Align leggings have not failed me! They’re known for stretching with you throughout pregnancy and for being mega-soft. They are super comfortable and can easily stretch above the bump. Bonus: you can wear them postpartum too!

Belly Band: I’ve tried out MANY different brands of belly bands and I can confidently say that the Medela Belly Band and the Bellaband are the two best in the market. Without being too restrictive, these bands are stretchy, lightweight, and supportive, and also provide a little bit of extra smoothness to your bump!

Insulated Water Bottle: Pregnancy dehydration is real (as I learned early on!) and I’ve been drinking even more water than I did before. I hear it only gets more intense if mom decides to breastfeed, so it never hurts to have an extra insulated bottle on hand to stay hydrated! I personally love the Swell bottles because they’re stainless steel, easy to clean, and keep liquids cool for 24 hours!

Felt Letter Board: I’ve done weekly bump pictures to document my bump growth using a felt letter board and it has come in super handy! I’m sure with baby’s future milestones, it will be another go-to accessory to have for cute photos!

Drunk Elephant Skincare: Pregnancy has made my skin super dry! I also quickly learned that I had to double-check the ingredients in my usual skincare products to ensure they were safe for pregnancy. Luckily, Drunk Elephant products are free of sulphates and parabens and are a clean and safe choice for pregnancy. My all-time fave is the B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum.

Bath Bombs / Muscle Soak: Before baby comes, I’ve been trying to give myself as much me-time as possible and spend the extra time to wind down and relax. With all the pressure and extra weight my body is carrying, baths have been a god-send for relaxing and taking pressure off the body. A nice set of bath bombs or muscle soak would definitely help any momma-to-be relax!

Diptyque Candle: On the theme of self care, my favourite “treat yo’self” candle is the Diptyque Baies. With a fresh berry scent featuring roses and blackcurrant leaves, this scent will always leave me feeling relaxed and happy. (But really, just treat her to any candle of her favourite scent!)

For those in a time crunch, gift cards are always welcome and acceptable! While pregnant, gift cards to these places would be the most appreciated: Amazon (for quick & easy deliveries), a food delivery/meal plan service (like Goodfood), or a nice spa date for pre-baby pampering (nail salon, facials, prenatal massages, etc!)
